If Only

If only men learn to compromise
Politicans cannot wilfully murder and proclaim
If only we can learn to share our pot of rice
Massacre of billions would not have begin

If only grown men can learn to put away our differences
Innocent children and women may not have suffered
If only we start thinking for benefits of others
Our children's plea will eventually be heard

If only humans can stop living in denial
Attempting to overthrow one another
Only to use excuses such as the law of survival
The truth is we just wanted to prove we're better

If only we can learn to love others the way we love ourselves
Life will be a much awaited place to live in
A world without posers, backstabbers and friends who think of nothing but themselves
At night before bedtime we will be anxious for sunlight to be seen

If only we remember the contributions of Ghandi and Mother Theresa
We will be ashamed of the society we have become
Selfish, inconsiderate and materialistic near and far
Perhaps we will start asking ourselves "How come?"
